Svendborg, Denmark, October 22nd 2018, 11.30am – FarmCompany A/S today announced the acquisition of a state-of-the-art dairy farm with 1’060 heads of the Jersey cattle breed.
“Further to the successful capital raise in Q3 2018 of EUR 9.4M, FarmCompany is glad to announce the acquisition of a dairy farm with approximately 220 hectares of farmland, which will be the backbone of our fourth cluster in the south-west of Denmark”, confirmed the Chairman of FarmCompany A/S, Mr. Jens Ohnemus.
“We are proud to include this best-in-class dairy asset in our farmland portfolio, operated by a highly knowledgeable team. The existing livestock in the farm benefits from free stall barns with automated milking robots, further increasing animal welfare”, Mr. Ohnemus confirmed.
Milk prices rose for three consecutive times in 2018, in the aftermath of the summer drought during which the dairy industry suffered a decrease in supply. “The high content of fat in the milk produced by the Jersey cows adds incremental value to the buy-to-operate dairy business model applied in this farm”, Jens Ohnemus concluded.
FarmCompany is a sustainable farmland investment company, with the vision to become the premier Danish farmland company focused on the ownership of high-quality farms and farm-related properties. The company manages 2’620 acres / 1’060 hectares across Denmark and holds an AA credit rating.
